These are the terms for using Nearside during its pilot. They are short on purpose.

What Nearside is

Nearside is a study and daily-work companion for truck drivers. It is not a driving school, not a Driver CPC training provider and not an official RSA service. It does not replace lessons, official training, the Rules of the Road or your operator’s own procedures. Passing a test or a check remains your responsibility.

The pilot

Access during the pilot is free and by invitation, using a code from a participating school or from Nearside. Codes may be withdrawn at the end of the pilot or if misused. Features may change, and a feature may be unavailable from time to time, especially the voice and AI services, which depend on third parties and on your connection.

Accuracy

Question wording follows the RSA’s published material. Marking of spoken answers is done by software and is a guide, not a ruling. Drivers’ hours figures and rules are summaries; always defer to the vehicle plate, the posted sign, the tachograph and the law.

Your responsibilities

Do not use the app while driving. Keep your phone secure, since your data is stored on it. Do not share pilot codes outside your school, attempt to overload the service, or use it to collect content for a competing product.

Walkaround reports

A report records what you said and photographed. It is sent by your own mail app to the address you choose. Nearside is not a party to the report and does not hold a copy.

Liability

Nearside is provided as is during the pilot, without warranty. To the extent the law allows, Nearside is not liable for loss arising from reliance on the app, from unavailability, or from data lost on your phone. Nothing here limits liability that cannot be limited by law.

Intellectual property

The Nearside name, logo, design, software, voice recordings and original content belong to Nearside. RSA material remains the property of the Road Safety Authority.
